Cheers Trip Opportunities: The mystery of the Mystery Trip has been solved. Twenty members of Cheers went on the tour and had a wonderful day of discovery. Our first stop was the Cussler Auto Museum, which is a private collection of over 50 autos. They range in age from a 1906 Oldsmobile to a 1967 Cadillac. All are in pristine condition. We then proceeded to the Scottsdale Airport where we got the history and had lunch. The afternoon found us at the Penske Racing Museum and the Scottsdale Railroad Park. Most of the group indicated an interest in the next Mystery Tour in December and an Overnight Mystery Tour in June.
Many of Cheers members have travel fever, with several planning trips to Mexico, European River Tours, and ocean cruises over the next few months.
Several members have indicated they are signing up for the Greek Isle Tour in October 2023. Several are returning to Athens and the islands with the opportunity to spend days, rather than hours, on them.
Cheers travel itineraries are open to all, since we use licensed travel agents. For more information, call Richard Lewin at 609-332-3915 or Donna Clucky at Free Spirit Vacations at 480-926-4447, Ext. 2. For more information, visit our website www.cheerssingles.org.
Monthly Wine Tasting: Once a month a member of our group opens their house for wine tasting. Lorene Roberts leads this monthly social time. For the month of October, our member Sally Wegyrn hosted our event where we try new and exciting wines followed by a potluck dinner. We have 20 to 35 members join in this great socializing opportunity with friends and sample what may be new wines to some.
Cheers Golf Group: Our golf group was back for September, however, on break during October overseed for most golf courses as they prepare for the new golf season. On Sept. 9 we played Sun Lakes Country Club and nine fun-filled holes. Keith McKenzie scored a birdie on hole 9, a par 3. On Sept. 16 we played the Cub course at Bear Creek golf course, and we played Oakwood golf course on Sept. 23 where our member John Hall scored a birdie on hole 5, a par 5, on the Sonoran course. After golf, we stop at the lounge for social time to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of the round.
As this is a members-only activity, you will need to be a member of our Cheers Social group. Please contact Mike Swoverland, either at our weekly meeting at the Oakwood clubhouse in the Bradford Room or via email at [email protected], for information in joining our new golf group. Contact Ginny Marr at 480-390-5145 or Richard Lewin at 609-332-3915 for more information on our club and membership. We look forward to having you come and visit us at our Thursday social time at Oakwood Country Club. All singles are welcomed.
