American-Irish Club news

Mary Pilon, Secretary

Our first meeting of the season was held on Tuesday, October 6 in the Horizon Room. President Walt Kinney greeted the members and we were off and running. After the minutes of April’s meeting were read, the Treasurer’s report was given and our various committee chairmen gave their reports, we got down to serious business.

Many sign-up sheets were passed around asking for volunteers to help with upcoming events. Don McMullen spoke about delivering the SunBird News each month, briefing the volunteers on the delivery routine.

Bob and Teri Namon and Dianne Reed were guests at the meeting. Bob spoke about Bocce Ball. We planned to check this activity out on October 28 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to see if our members would enjoy organizing an outing.

We then welcomed our four new members and proceeded to our monthly 50/50 game which was won by Ethel Donoghue, who is now $60 richer. Leo Buries won $32 in the dollar game.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. and everyone enjoyed pizza afterwards.

The Irish Club is open to SunBird residents who are Irish by birth or marriage. We will warmly welcome all new members and guarantee much fun and laughter at meetings, plus an annual trip to Laughlin in February and our delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner served each year in March.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room.
