There’s never been a better time to check out the game with the funny name. Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in America, is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong and with its smaller than tennis court size makes it the perfect game for the sports enthusiast or even the average guy or gal who may not run quite as fast as he once did but is eager to get a little exercise and enjoy some social time with friendly people.
With the newly painted, reconfigured courts and the portable Pickleball nets, there is even more room for players of all skill levels and just in time for the increase of residents at this time of year.
It’s exciting times for SunBird what with the valuable and essential collaboration with Dave Walden and the Tennis Club that residents can now boast facilities which include regulation Pickleball courts.
If you’re interested in giving it a try, just pop by Tuesday, Thursday or Friday from 2:00-5:30 p.m. or Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Feel free to borrow a paddle before you purchase your own, but please wear proper court shoes at all times. If you decide you would like to join, then the low cost of $5 per person will help to cover costs of balls and miscellaneous.
