Shirley Jackson
Welcome back, winter visitors. The Kare Bears are ready to serve you again. Our first meeting will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the SunBird Ballroom. If you would like to participate you would be welcome to attend. We will have snacks and drinks available and highlights of our plans for the next six months.
Our Kare Bear Board this year includes Bunny Bottorff, Barb Dunbar, Larie Thibeault, Holly Bird and Judy Domenigoni. They will bring the programs and fundraisers for the coming season. Officers are President Shirley Jackson, Vice President Holly Bird, Secretary Judy Domenigoni and Treasurer Larie Thibeault.
Our 2014-15 year for Kare Bears, under the leadership of Sherry Fann, was very successful as we paid out a total of $11,670.00 to various charities within Chandler and a large amount to our HOA. We could not have done this without the tremendous support from our SunBird community and the work of our members. So, we do thank you all for showing your support through our different activities.
Our monthly lunches during the summer have brought together about thirty of our members and guests and it has been a great time for making friends. Bunny contributed a birthday cake to celebrate those members with a birthday during each month. Holly Bird, our vice president, set up a SunBird Kare Bears facebook account where remarks and pictures have been noted.
Our first meeting will be a membership meeting to get acquainted with our new Board and new and returning members. There will not be a speaker at this meeting. We look forward to beginning the 2015-16 Kare Bear session. Our first Kare Bear Faire is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. We have oodles for the White Elephant table and a new idea to set up the Kare Bears Boutique table in December. Hope you will join us for the Faires; this is an event started back in 1993 when SunBird Kare Bears was first organized by Marlene Gelardi and Lorraine Sorenson along with their new members; a grand history we want to continue.
Thanks again SunBird residents for showing us you care.
