I know many SunBird residents were looking forward to the Sweet and Savory event this year!
Due to such a myriad of events this season, a decision was made to cancel. Look for this event in 2015.
We enjoyed an interesting and informative speaker at our monthly meeting February 18.
Dr. Howard Fern, a chiropractor and professional health coach, shared tips for a healthy lifestyle, making reference to how various foods in our diet can increase our energy and higher activity levels can affect our well being. He discussed the effects of sugar, carbohydrates and eating habits in our daily lives. The slogan “go green” applies to what we eat as well as what we recycle. A Mediterranean diet of grazing (eating small portions many times a day) might curb your hunger and boost your stamina.
Sherry asked for volunteers for the history book, membership and publicity. She also expressed the crucial need this summer for back up relief of Lari or Bunny who manage the details and set up for memorials.
An appreciation luncheon will be held for our wonderful volunteers on April 1. At his time we will confirm and accept our new Kare Bear Board. This luncheon will suspend our social activities until October.
Kare Bears continues through the summer months hosting memorials, delivering cheer and cups to those home from a hospital visit. Caring takes no furlough; it is vital to all humanity, and the Kare Bears keep dispensing all summer long.
We would like to thank our wonderful volunteers and especially our chairwoman Ruth Jon Wick who headed up the organization of Kare Bear fairs and the many who assisted i.e., setup, breakdown, selling donuts, raffle tickets, white elephant table hagglers and also those who contribute and pick up items for our fair: our skilled pastry, cake and cookie chefs who prepared goodies for the bake sale on Community Day. However you have offered to assist the group, you were a blessing. We are grateful to one and all!
