The Flamingos Are Out!
The flamingos recently helped wish a SunBird resident a happy birthday! To surprise a family member or friend—or welcome a snowbird back to SunBird—take advantage of this opportunity sponsored by the SunBird Lions. Contact Jan Engdahl at 602-568-0511 to arrange for her handlers to place the flock at the home the night before and collect it at the end of the celebration day. The recommended donation is just $25, and an additional donation may reveal who flocked you. Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasion while supporting the Lions.
Join Us This November for the Lions Annual Garage Sale
The SunBird Lions will participate in the community garage sale on Nov.14. They are seeking donations of household goods, furniture, bedding, and artwork; please do not donate clothing or shoes. Start setting aside treasures ready for a new home. Donations may be delivered to Lion’s Jana and Randy Haeffner’s home at 1651 E. Firestone on Nov. 1 or after. If you have questions, please contact Jana at 815-761-7248 and watch the November Blast for more information. Your donations will help the Lions support their many sponsored charities.
Hartford School Toy Drive
The Lions are planning another successful toy drive for Hartford School. With your help, we can provide holiday gifts for children who might otherwise go without.
The Lions are collecting toys for children from preschool through sixth grade students from Hartford School.
Gift Ideas
* Basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls are always popular.
* Puzzles, games, crafts, dolls, and other age-appropriate toys are welcome.
* Please choose toys that do not require batteries whenever possible.
Please bring donated toys to the next Lions meeting on Oct. 20 and again on Nov. 17 in the Lakeview Room, so they can be delivered in early December. If you need someone to shop for you or pick up your gifts call Lion Eileen at 602-515-1920.
Thank you in advance for helping make the holidays brighter and more memorable for these children.
