Sister Improv Groups Reunite, Resulting in Hilarity

Gilbert Chandler Community College’s Off the Cuff (OTC) invited The ImproVables to the Black Box Theater on their campus for a night of joint silliness. Both groups had so much fun playing for and with each other. Oh, and the standing room only audience had a great time, too.

The director of OTC, Shalynn Reynolds, did two improv workshops for SLCT about 11 years ago. That was the inspiration to start SLCT’s own improv group, The ImproVables. Ever since then, the two groups have called each other “Sister Groups”. The ImproVables continue to be inspired by OTC.

Each group did four “games” alone and joined together for four more, for a total of 12 entertaining segments. Phyllis Novy’s grandson, Zach Furman, is now a member of OTC. He had been a member of OTC’s children’s group about 10 years ago and recently returned to the adult group. Phyllis and Zach had so much fun performing in the show together. To culminate the evening, the two groups posed together at the conclusion of the show. Could they be serious? Heck no!
