The high season is in full swing here at SunBird, and the weather has been terrific! We are so glad to have and welcome back many residents who have been away for the summer. Welcome back and join the fun! The last week of October, SunBird hosted its first “Night of Mischief” with a spooky golf cart parade, hilarious dog costume contest, and a special Michael Jackson “Thriller” zombie dance performed outside on the clubhouse stage. The following night was the Halloween Dance, with another special performance of the “Witches Dance” and costume party hosted in the ballroom. During the month of November, we had several events, including SunBird’s 27th Community Day, the Kare Bear Fair, the start of Lions Bingo, the “Denim & Diamonds” country dance, Veterans Day service with guest speaker City of Chandler Member O.D. Harris, the Toby Keith cover band concert, Canadian Welcome Back Party, Clay & Sip, Clay & Play, Art & Sip, SunBird’s annual Community Garage Sale, DJ Night, Karaoke Night, Fame Trivia, Sunday Funday Football, Thanksgiving Dinner from the Horizon Room, and much more. We are just getting started! The month of December has many excellent holiday events, shows, and banquets planned. For details, see the other section in this edition of the SunBird News or visit SunBirdhoa.com.
Living in a gated community sometimes brings a false sense of security and causes some to become a little less cautious with our awareness. SunBird Patrol has noted some concerns observed at the vehicle and pedestrian gates. Pedestrian gates leading outside of SunBird have been often noted as left propped open. Please allow the gates to close, or make sure they are closed when entering or leaving SunBird. Another observation has been regarding the use of the remote-control devices and keypad codes to open the vehicle gates. The keypad codes to the gates should only be shared with family and/or trusted emergency providers. If anyone feels their code has been shared or compromised with someone or would like to have it updated, please contact the SunBird office. The remote-control devices that open the vehicle gates are for residents only and family emergency purposes. If someone has lost one of these devices or has given it away, please contact the SunBird office so that we can update or disable these devices in the gate control system.
SunBird Patrol continues to actively monitor unusual use of vehicle gate codes and remote-control devices. If a code is suspected to be misused, we will contact the SunBird owner of the code to verify the activity related to that pass code. When misuse is discovered, the keypad code will be disabled so that it can no longer be used. Some delivery services, such as Amazon, have options that can be set up by the purchaser to schedule the best times for delivery. If using Amazon, go to “Accounts and Lists” then to “Your Addresses” then to “Edit” then to “Delivery Instructions.” In this field, the days and times of delivery can be selected for all deliveries from that time forward. Ideally, the times of delivery for SunBird should be no earlier than 6 a.m. and no later than 8 p.m. During this time, the gatehouse at Riggs Road is staffed, and the drivers can properly check into SunBird without entering a code or trying to sneak in behind a vehicle entering into SunBird. If anyone would like to update or change their four-digit vehicle entry code at no charge, please contact the SunBird office. If we work together, we can help reduce the chances of having the gate codes or keys to SunBird falling into anyone’s possession
We appreciate all the SunBird staff who work extra-hard to keep the facilities, services, and amenities in good order. SunBird is a large, active community and has many facets to its operations.
