Giant SunBird Community Auction Returns January 23

The highly anticipated Community Auction and Golf Tournament weekend is coming. The auction will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. on the patio. It will be followed by the Founders Cup Golf Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 24.

The big-ticket item on the block will be a refurbished golf cart offered by A-1 Golf Carts, our corporate sponsor.

Our resident auctioneer Mike Goldade is heading up the event, and Collette Ellis-Toddington is accepting your donations. Donations might include tickets to a concert or sporting event, a stay in your cottage or home, repair services, or a gift basket. Maybe you have an older golf cart taking up space in your garage. Perhaps you have a skill (plumbing, playing a musical instrument, gardening) that you would like to share or a special dinner you would like to host. If you have some of these to donate, please contact Collette at 604-791-0722 or ellist23@yahoo.com.

Mary Stohr and Karen Hall will once again coordinate the famous sale of baked goods from our own SunBird chefs. Collette is also busy sourcing donations from local businesses for the ever-popular silent auction.

This annual event raises funds to support our Golf Club’s dedication to maintaining the glorious green space running through our community. Your contributions are essential. Last year we raised $16,000, which enabled the Golf Club to purchase a greens mower and a Sweep-N-Fill machine. The whole community enjoys the benefits of those purchases every time they enter SunBird.

So, save the dates of Jan. 23 for the auction and Jan. 24 for the Founders Cup Tournament.
