October has been a busy time for our club. We worked with the Lions Club to put on a great Oktoberfest celebration. We had a great band with super music and dancing. The Horizon Room served us a dinner of bratwurst with sauerkraut and German potato salad. A cash bar was present with a special Oktoberfest beer available. There were two cash raffles and a raffle of gift baskets provided by both clubs.
The club met on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Lakeview Room. We discussed the Oktoberfest celebration and shared desserts, along with coffee and ice water. We also played a game of German Trivia. More discussion was had as to the club’s delivering the SunBird News to earn money for our club coffers. We also reviewed plans for the club’s Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 13.
Membership is open to any individual interested in German heritage and history. Club dues are $10, and we meet on the fourth Thursday of each month, September through April, with the exception of December, at 6 p.m. in the Lakeview Room. Come join us!
Auf wiedersehen
