Community Church of SunBird

Jamie Morgan

Community Church of SunBird (CCSB) is excited to welcome back our snowbird friends for a new season. It has been a good summer, with our faithful friends enjoying fellowship. This summer, we welcomed a new pastor, Jeff King, to our pastoral team of Dr. Jim Baugh, Al Fadi, Dan Graves, and Larry Freitag. One pastor each week delivers an inspiring and challenging biblical message. They are a true blessing to CCSB.

CCSB also offers a Wednesday Bible Study in the Hopi Room at 6:30 p.m., led by Pastor Dan Graves. All are welcome.

Pat Miller leads the CCSB Choir practices on Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m., while Kim Hanson leads the CCSB Bell Ringers practice on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Both the Choir and Bells bless us with their music throughout the winter season. New members are welcome to join one or both.

CCSB outreach programs include Global Training Network, CIRA International, Mission in Motion Passport Ministry, AZCEND in Chandler, Neighbors Who Care, SunBird Helping SunBird, and the Hamilton High School homeless and underprivileged students by collecting desperately needed items for these students throughout the entire school year.

Our first project of the holiday season is well underway. We collect items all year to fill shoeboxes for children here and around the world, which are distributed by Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Following the Nov. 15 deadline, we will begin preparations for our sponsorship of the Children’s Christmas program at the Latin American Church of the Nazarene in downtown Chandler. CCSB members choose gift tags to buy a Christmas gift for each child in their Children’s program. We deliver the gifts at the dress rehearsal of their program, watch their performance, eat pizza with them, and watch them open their gifts. What a blessing to see the joy on their faces! Later, during the month of February, we collect clothing for their church to help the families in their community.

Before you know it, Christmas will be here. We want to invite all of you to join us for our Christmas Eve service this year as we celebrate the Birth of Jesus, the Christ.

Please join us this holiday season each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the ballroom for a non-denominational, inspiring message from one of our gifted pastors. See you there!
