Lions Participate in Community Day
On Nov. 5 the annual Community Day will take place in the ballroom, and the SunBird Lions will be present to share information about the many activities they support. Members will be available to discuss the various service projects and programs the Lions are involved with throughout the community.
In addition, the Lions will provide reading glasses for those who need assistance and will be collecting used eyeglasses, hearing aids, and old cell phones. These items will be recycled and repurposed to benefit individuals in need.
Lions will also be on hand to talk about the community Fly the Flag program, as well as the popular Flamingo Flocking, a fun way to celebrate special occasions for friends and family. If you are interested in learning more about joining a worldwide service organization, the Lions will have information available and can answer any questions you may have.

SunBird Lions Third Annual Garage Sale
The SunBird Lions are excited to announce their Third Annual Garage Sale, taking place on Nov. 15 as part of the larger SunBird Community Garage Sale event. This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to donate gently used items, with all proceeds supporting the Lions’ many charitable initiatives.
By donating your household goods, furniture, pictures, puzzles, or other suitable items, you can help the Lions raise funds for important causes while saving yourself the time and effort of organizing your own sale. Please note that, at this time, the Lions are unable to accept clothing or shoes as donations.
Those wishing to contribute are invited to contact Jana Haeffner at 816-761-7243 or Randy Haeffner at 815-761-9757 to arrange their donation. All donated items should be dropped off at 1651 East Firestone Court, the designated location for the sale. Jana and Randy are available to coordinate a convenient time for you to bring your items.
The SunBird Lions greatly appreciate your generosity and support, which helps make this event a success and enables the club to continue making a positive impact in the community.
In Memory
During the summer, the SunBird Lions experienced the loss of two cherished members: Diane Hunt and Jo Ann Mottet. In recognition of their dedication and service, a commemorative memory brick will be placed on the walkway near the outdoor stage. This lasting tribute honors their contributions and ensures their memory remains a part of our community for years to come.
Shop and Support Your Lions Club
Jana Haeffner
The SunBird Lions Club is excited to announce its approval to participate in the Kroger/Fry’s Community Rewards Program. As a Community Rewards participant, the club will earn funds to support charitable initiatives at the local, state, and global levels every time you, your family, or your friends link your Fry’s shopper’s card to the Chandler SunBird Lions Club.
Once your shopper’s card information is linked, you can shop at any Fry’s location, including stores outside Chandler. Participating in this program will not impact your fuel points or shopping discounts—those benefits remain entirely yours. Special Thanks
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the annual Oktoberfest. The evening was truly memorable, featuring delicious food served by the Horizon Room and lively dancing to the music of Die Liedermäuse.
Congratulations go out to all our door prize winners, as well as those who won the 50/50 drawing. Your participation added excitement and enjoyment to the festivities.
We would also like to thank the HOA and the German Club for their partnership with the SunBird Lions in making this event possible for our community. Their support and collaboration were instrumental in creating a successful and enjoyable celebration for all.
Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony
On Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., the Lions invite the community to gather at the SunBird clubhouse by the flagpole for a special time of remembrance dedicated to honoring those who have served and protected our country. During this meaningful event, a member of the Chandler City Council will be present to offer special remarks commemorating the sacrifices made by our veterans. All are encouraged to join us in paying tribute and showing appreciation for these brave individuals.
