Sue Prudencio

The American Irish Club hosted two events in December. The Christmas Dinner Dance was a great time. The meal was prepared by the Horizon Room staff, and it was delicious. Music was provided by DJ Rene who also provided a photo booth. The second event was the Christmas Golf Cart Parade. There were so many beautiful carts. We had great participation! Val, our president, set the pace and led the parade. The judges had a difficult time choosing the three winning carts. First place went to Rhonda Fomby and Sue Prudencio, second place went to Sharon VanGruvensen and Hank Danelski, and third place went to Joe Johnson and his grandson Jack Johnson.

A Spring Training Game outing is planned for March 11 at Sloan Park for the Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers game. It will be held on the patio deck with all-you-can-eat food (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.), and some non-alcoholic beverages will be included in the price of $74 per person. A no-host bar will be available for those wishing to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Our St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner, Dance, and Basket Raffle will be on March 15. It’s sure to be a great time. Dinner will be prepared by the Horizon Room staff, and music will feature the Rusty Parts band. I’m sure the baskets will be beautiful. If you would like to donate towards the baskets or prepare a basket, please contact Sharon VanGruensven at 920-471-6646 for details. The St. Patrick’s Day Golf Parade will be on March 17. We are looking forward to seeing many beautifully decorated carts. Both events are open to the community and guests. More information regarding line-up and start times will be available during the month.

Anyone wishing to join the American Irish Club is welcome. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is Feb. 6 in the SunBird ballroom. A sign-up sheet is in the Poster Room off the lobby. Please be sure to sign up if you plan to attend so that the meal can be planned accordingly. There is a $10 charge for guest meals. Social hour starts at 4 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5 p.m. A light dinner follows. Being Irish is not a requirement! We welcome all SunBird residents. Annual dues are $40. Dinner is included at all regular monthly meetings for members.
