We’ve all read how Crystal Cards (CC) refurbishes greeting cards, sells them for $1, then donates the funds to My Sister’s Place (MSP). We’d like you to learn a little more about MSP and how your contributions have helped.
Domestic violence can happen anywhere, to anyone, at any time. MSP, a 24-hour domestic violence shelter, is a program of Catholic Charities. Their goal is to provide safety and shelter to domestic violence survivors while educating them about healthy relationships and providing community resources. The hope is that survivors leaving the shelter will be able to maintain a violence-free lifestyle. MSP provides housing for up to 30 individuals (men, women, and children), three meals a day, and basic needs, at no cost to them. MSP also operates a 24-hour crisis line which, for many, is the survivor’s first step in reaching out for help. These services could not be provided without the help of our community.
Funding MSP receives from government agencies comes with guidelines as to how it can be used. The money MSP receives from CC can be used with leniency for things such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, bedding, kitchen supplies, school supplies, prescription medications, and much more.
Earlier this year, CC hit the $100,000 mark in its donations to MSP. With your help, we have now surpassed $110,000. Thank you for your participation, which has contributed to reaching this goal. Don’t forget MSP’s Christmas wish list, which is on our website at www.thecrystalcardproject.org. Bring items to 9118 E. Diamond Drive in Oakwood, Sun Lakes, by Dec. 16.
