The Garden Club resumes with its first meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 9 a.m. in the east ballroom. This date is a departure from the normal meeting on the second Friday of the month. This change will allow Garden Club members to join the SunBird bus trip to Kartchner Caverns. The meeting time was incorrect in the October SunBird News, we apologize for any confusion. The correct time is 9 a.m., and we will meet at our usual location, the east ballroom.
Our first meeting of the year will be a chance to reconnect with your SunBird friends, as well as pay your annual $10 SunBird Garden Club dues. You also will have the opportunity to buy tickets for our two upcoming brunches: our Christmas Brunch on Dec. 13 and our Valentine’s and Founders Day Brunch on Feb. 14. The cost for each brunch is $10.
At the beginning of our meeting, we will meet the candidates running for our HOA board. The candidates will introduce themselves and give a brief synopsis of qualifications and talents that they would bring to the board. Following their presentations, our speaker will be our own Master Gardener and SunBird Garden Club member, Judy Sink. Judy will discuss herb gardening in the desert. As a Master Gardener, Judy has completed intensive training in the art and science of gardening and passes along information as well as gardening advice to urban gardeners such as ourselves.
We hope to see you at our first meeting. Membership is open to all SunBird residents, whether you are a renter, owner, snowbird, or full-timer. We are a group of SunBirders who are interested in learning how to garden in the desert and help beautify our SunBird community. We hope to see you on Nov. 7!
