During the week of December 7 residents saw the American flag flying throughout SunBird to honor those that fought at Pearl Harbor on that day. That is just one of eight days that the SunBird Lions puts out flags for their subscribers. Other dates include Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriots Day (September 11) and Veterans Day.
You can easily become a proud American taking part in this program. For an annual tax deductable donation of $35, the Lions will install a flag holder in your yard, put the flag out before the holiday, pick it up after the holiday, store it for you and repair or replace any damaged flags. After you sign up, all you have to do is enjoy. Even if you are a snowbird the Lions will put your flag out for each holiday.
Applications are available outside the HOA office or from any Lions member. Holders for new subscribers will be installed before Presidents Day.
