Canadian BBQ in the cold

On February 7, the Canadian contingent at SunBird gathered on the patio for our annual Pork Loin BBQ. It felt more like February in Canada for the 173 participants – cold, unless the brilliant sunshine was on your back.

The highlight of the event was the Trivia Contest arranged with infectious enthusiasm by Joan and Dillon Boyle and Lisa and Wayne Onyx. MC Dianne Wreford kept the program moving, and Brian Turner tracked the results. Grimsby, Ontario, took first place. Second place went to Champion, Alberta.

Registration for our annual Canadian Open Golf Tournament scheduled for March 17 was organized by Fred Nixon. If you missed it, phone Fred at 403-612-4458 or send an email to [email protected]. The entry fee of $40 includes a game of social golf and a pizza dinner.

The Canadian Club donated $500 for the renovation of the patio kitchen, which includes the purchase of a new fridge and freezer.
