If you enjoy upbeat choral music from a variety of singing groups please mark your calendar now to reserve March 1, 2015 at 3:00 pm. The 20th annual Sun Lakes Ecumenical Choral Festival is celebrating the achievement of two decades of concerts for the benefit of Neighbors Who Care. This year there will be a new concert format. The concert will be held in the sanctuary of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. Tickets are available from Neighbors Who Care, participating churches and choral groups or at the door for $5. Proceeds will go to benefit the programs of Neighbors Who Care which provides services to residents of the Sun Lakes, Sun Bird, Springfield and South Chandler area that permit the residents to continue living independently in their own homes.
Joining the choirs from several Sun Lakes churches will be the Chordaires under the direction of Adam Thome and the children’s choir of the Jewish Community Center. In addition to the choral groups there will be musical offerings of vocal duets and the bell choir from Risen Savior Lutheran Church.
The theme of this concert will be Rock-a My Soul and the musical offerings will be upbeat songs with gospel, spiritual, African or rock roots with the common tie being the positive messages of the lyrics. Lana Oyer, director of the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Choir, will direct the massed choir in several closing numbers.
Please watch for more information about this uplifting musical event as the date draws nearer.
