Tips From The Pro

Dave Jones

September is upon us and that means getting ready for the new season. The golf course will start overseeding on September 26 and course will re-open on October 17, so our last day of golf will be Sunday, September 25. It will be cart path only until October?

The Superintendent’s Revenge Golf Tournament will be on Saturday, September 24; it is a four person Scramble, $35 per person. Fast fairways and greens, strategic pin locations, mowers chasing golfers (probably not but it would be interesting) course obstacles and lots of fun. Lunch will be served afterwards in the Horizon Room – pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and dessert.

The Pro Shop will be closed from September 26 until October 9. The new shop hours will be from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., golf starting at 8:00 a.m. The new golf schedule will be shotgun starts Monday through Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. Tee times will be all day Sunday and on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons.

We have some new golf specials in conjunction with the Horizon Room Restaurant: Tuesday Nine and Dine for $20 per person and Fun and Fish Fridays for $15 per person. These will be available after 2:00 p.m. on the designated days. The golf course will continue its nine hole daily specials after 3:00 p.m. for golf, and other specials will be posted on the website at www.SunbirdGolf.com and www.Golf18Network.com.

We are looking forward to a new and exciting season and hope to see everyone back out playing and also meeting some new faces and friends.

On behalf of The SunBird Golf Club and SunBird Board of Directors, I would like to thank everyone for their donations to the 2016 Green Up project. There was an increase in donations over last year and we appreciate all the support we receive from the community. We are proud to be part of SunBird Golf Resort community and the great people that live here. Thank you very much for your support.
