In April, one of the two pumps used to provide irrigation to the golf course failed. The back-up pump is in poor shape and could also fail at any time. Without an irrigation pumping system, the golf course will not be able to maintain grass or fountains, which directly impacts our entire community and home values.
The Golf Board is proposing a one-time assessment to the 250 members of the SunBird Golf Club. They have also set up a fundraising committee of community members to help raise money from the entire SunBird community. The SunBird Golf Club will need help from the entire SunBird community to raise the $180,000 needed to replace the pumps, valves, and control panel.
As most of you understand, the golf course has received no funding from the HOA, per the current bylaws. The recent CCR change will help sometime in the future, but this is an immediate need. A special account has been set up by the Golf Club, and as of early May, over $20,000 has already been received from many of our generous and concerned homeowners.
If you would like to contribute to the Pump Replacement Fund, you may send a check to SunBird Golf Club, 6240 S. SunBird Blvd., Chandler, AZ 85249, or call the Golf Shop at 480-883-0820. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping SunBird green and a beautiful place to live.
