SunBird Patrol News

Now that all the road work is done and the streets are looking good again, let’s all remember that a parking pass is required to park on the roads overnight (between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.). By doing this, it makes it so emergency vehicles can get down our narrow streets in case of an emergency. You may get a parking variance form on the HOA web page or stop by the office and pick one up. While parking on the street during the day, please be a good neighbor and don’t block the driveway or view of your neighbors exiting their driveways.

All should know by now that there are to be no trailers coming in the Hunt Highway gate—period. These gates are not set up for long vehicles. You must enter at the E. Riggs Road and S. Championship Drive gate. So, if you think you can come in the back gate and not get caught, smile, you’re on camera. We do charge residents as well as contractors or whoever breaks the barrier arm, and it does get quite expensive.

While we all love our fur babies, when you have them off of your property, they must be on a leash. The leash cannot be more than six feet in length so that you have control of your pet. This goes for cats as well. The Rules Committee has adopted this from the Maricopa County and Arizona State laws. You can find this on the HOA web page under Rules and Regulations as well as under the Patrol tab. So, let’s all do our part to keep our fur babies safe from other pets and traffic.

Did you know that in the State of Arizona, as well as SunBird, you are required to have a driver’s license to operate a golf cart on the roads? I know that it’s a great treat to have your grandkids come and drive a golf cart, but keep in mind that grandpa and grandma are financially responsible if, God forbid, something would happen while your grandkids are driving your cart.

I have been getting complaints about residents and guests having drinks in the pool. If you read the sign as you come into the gate at the pool, it clearly states that there are to be no drinks in the pool. This is Maricopa County Health Department’s rules. They have allowed us to have drinks on the edge of the pool during scheduled exercise classes not in the pool, i.e., water aerobics and water volleyball. At all other times, your drinks cannot be within four feet of the pool due to being a trip hazard. It is a SunBird rule that the only time that a ball is to be in the pool is during water volleyball. So, with all of this being said, when the Health Department shows up unannounced, don’t be the person they catch in the pool with a drink and close the pool down. Your neighbors will not be happy with you for the duration of the closing of the pool by order of the Health Department.

Let’s all be thankful for the great community that we live in.

Remember, if you see something, say something.
