SunBird Men’s Golf Club has kicked off for the 2025–26 season. Every Thursday morning the tee times kick off at 9:30 a.m. The members of the golf club will play various games throughout the year. And what a year it has been for the men’s league filled with competitive games and a lot of fun games.
We crowned two champions in the club championship. Two day gross champion was Harv Martinez with a 136, winning in a one–hole playoff. Net Champion, Duane Dub, with a 130. Congratulations to both men.
Various games were played this year from two–man scrabble, string game to net/gross.
March brought the Conley Cup tournament. Played between the United States and Canada. Congratulations to the United States Men’s Team on their victory. Also, congratulations to the Canadian Women’s Team on their victory.
We have also had some executive changes for next year. Starting with the men’s club secretary. Gord Olson is retiring from that position, and it will be filled by Duane Dub. James Morgan is retiring from the position of president, and it will be filled by Dave White. I wish them both the best of luck.
Well, that’s about it for the newsletter for May. For our Canadian members: please drive safely or fly safely getting home. For our United States members: thank you for the excellent hospitality and a great men’s league and beautiful golf course.
I would like to leave you with this quote from Lee Travino:
“The safest place in a lightning storm is in the middle of a fairway—even God cannot hit a one iron there.”
On another note, that is the safest place to be if you are in front of me on a golf course. The middle to the fairway.
