SunBird Men’s Golf Association

The Sunbird Men’s Golf Association conducts tournament events each Thursday morning. The events are in the form of individual stroke/net play, four person scrambles, two person best ball or other games at the discretion of the tournament committee. Events are handicapped and flighted which allows players of all skill levels to have a chance for prizes. If you would enjoy the fun, games and meeting and playing with different people on a weekly basis, then the Men’s Club is for you. In addition to playing in the weekly events, membership also includes membership in the Arizona Golf Association handicap system. Contact Fred Garmeson, Membership Chairman, at 480-895-9363 for details.

Men’s Club business meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in the SunBird Clubhouse Ballroom. Interested golfers are welcome to attend. A highlight of the meetings is the introduction of new members to the club. New members introduced and welcomed into the club at the November and December meetings were Ron Norgard, Dave Fischer, Dillon Boyle, Ross Bennett, Jack Baudistel, Bob West and Gary Popelka.

The odds of getting a hole in one are quite slim. Well, how about four in a month’s time? It happened! Four members of the Men’s Club found the bottom of the cup on their drives during the last month. Wes Terry aced No. 14 in men’s day play, Jim Bickett aced No. 14 in Roadrunner play, Dale Stokke aced No. 13 in open play and Richard Craig aced No. 14 at Johnson’s Ranch. Good shooting!
