With summer in full swing, so is the SunBird Lions Club.
With many new homeowners, renters, and visitors in and around SunBird, we wanted to share some of our ongoing projects until we resume in full swing in November.
Our Flag program, headed by Lion Carol Zittel, is such a beautiful patriotic program. Lion Carol and her volunteers put up flags at your home, or wherever you choose, for all national holidays. It is so beautiful to drive around and see the flags waving proudly. Please contact Lion Carol at 480-883-0958 to sign up, or there are pamphlets in the clubhouse explaining the program with an application. These also make nice gifts for friends, family, and neighbors who do not have a flag yet.
We have a group of Lion volunteers who collect gently used eyeglasses, hearing aids, eyeglass frames, and cell phones that can be distributed and used for those in need throughout the world. Lion Ray Clark counts, sorts, and distributes them in preparation for being reused. If you need to have a pick-up, please call Lion Ray at 480-832-5340.
For those in need of medical supplies such as canes, wheelchairs, commodes, high-rise seats, and walkers, please contact Lion Gail Holland at 480-883-7310. Lion Gail will assist you with your needs.
We have our ongoing food drive with AZCEND Food Pantry of Chandler, with the help of Lion Robert Arnold. Our food container is in the Copy Room in the SunBird clubhouse. Please do not leave perishable or outdated foods. We are extremely grateful for all your donations to help those who may not know where their next meal will come from. Pick-up may be made by calling Lion Arlene Block at 602-618-5861, or Lion Robert Arnold at 480-408-5018.
