The SunBird Lady 18ers League kicked off their 2023-24 Season with a well-attended breakfast meeting in the Horizon Room, followed by a game of golf called Cha Cha Cha Reverse. If the name of the game played has piqued your curiosity, then come join our league, as Shirley Goldade and her team have a variety of games planned for the season. We are a great group of gals who enjoy golf, meeting new people, and having fun. So, if that interests you, please join our league. We golf every Tuesday morning.
At the breakfast meeting our president Jean Pritchard was pleased to welcome our returning members and introduce and welcome five new members. They are Collette Ellis-Toddington, Jan Gregorson, Theresa Meola, Sue Rouse, and Lora Thomas. Welcome, ladies!
Connie Franklin, our rules lead, reported that the SunBird Golf Course was rated this summer, and hole number 2 is now a par 5 for the ladies! Many were happy to hear that, as hole number 2 was viewed as a very long par 4.
The league had a 50/50 draw to raise funds for holiday poinsettias for the SunBird HOA office and Horizon Room. Congratulations to the winners, Marcia Hogan and Julie Anderson.
The ladies congratulated Melissa Craig for getting a hole-in-one on hole number 5 on Nov. 4. This was her fourth hole-in-one at SunBird Golf Course and fifth in her golf career. This is phenomenal, considering that, according to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the odds of the average player getting a hole-in-one are 12,500 to 1. Obviously, Melissa is not just an average player! Great way to start off the season, Melissa, and to inspire us all to set our sights on getting a hole-in-one!
Some of the highlights for the upcoming season are as follows:
Nov. 28, 2023: Golf and lunch with the SunBird Lady 9ers
Feb. 2, 2024: Couples Net Shoot-Out
Feb. 27, 2024: Home and Home at Springfield Golf Course
The season is shaping up to be busy and fun, and we are a welcoming group of women, so please feel free to reach out to any of the members to learn more and join our fun golf league!
