Mary Pilon, Secretary
Our Irish Club’s latest meeting was held on Tuesday, February 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room. There were 59 members present, including two new members, Terry and Linda Randles and three visitors, Marty and Carolyn and President Walt’s grandson, Brandon.
It was a busy meeting. We discussed our annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner to be held March 16 in the Ballroom. We discussed our first annual (possibly) St. Patrick’s Day golf cart parade. We discussed our upcoming trip to Laughlin. We discussed a Bean Bag and Horseshoe Party.
Don McMullen praised our deliverers and substituted for SunBird News deliveries. No complaints have been received.
Janet Rosenstock reported that plans are in the works for another bocce ball court in 2017. Irish Club plays bocce ball each Monday between 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Leo Buries is in charge of our end of the season Patio Party to be held on April 5.
George Sheil will be in charge of our March 3 luncheon at the Harp restaurant.
Maurice Stein heads the annual shuffleboard event on February 24 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a cookout.
Margaret O’Brien will again open her home to members on March 8 to fill baskets for prizes at the Corned Beef Dinner. She will provide pizza for everyone. This is always a great gathering. Margaret is a wonderful hostess.
The club members celebrated the birthdays of Jack Dolezal and Mary McMullen with a lovely chorus of Happy Birthday.
Marcia McHugh created a brand new bucket for our 50/50 drawing. Everyone was quite impressed with the lovely new bucket. New member Terry Randles drew the winning ticket and Margaret O’Brien went home with $80. The booby prize was another Irish Club golf hat won by Stan Milanowski. Stan was very lucky because he also won $49 in the dollar game.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. followed by a pizza fest. A good time was had by all.
