‘Tis the favorite month of the year! Our traditional Irish Dinner, the Golf Cart Parade, and wearing o’ the green! It just doesn’t get better than that!
February’s meeting was held on Feb. 2 in the ballroom. President Val recited the Irish poem after the pledge to the flag. The various committees’ reports, the 50/50 Game, and the Dollar Game followed. Winners of the 50/50 were Treasurer Mary, President Val, and Ruth Peacock. Ruth, along with Dorothy and Jerry Gallagher, were welcomed as new members. Joanne Vega and Lisa Barball were introduced. A get well card was passed around for Christine T. to send wishes for a quick recovery.
Our new VP is Phyllis Zacconi. Also, President Val stated that he will most probably remain our leader “forever.” With Sue taking the secretary’s duties, we now have all four offices filled. Yay! A huge thank you to you all!
Our Laughlin trip was postponed until February of 2024. A big thanks to Sally, though, for her efforts. Also, President Val thanked Sharon, Donna, and Mary A. for their volunteering.
Many of us went to Barleens Dinner Show in Apache Junction. It was truly a wonderful evening. The food was excellent, service was great, and the entertainment was quite enjoyable. Judy Phillips was thanked for organizing the event.
Mark your calendars for our St. Pat’s Dinner to be held in the ballroom on March 12. Details will follow. Also, times, staging area, and parade route for the St. Pat’s parade will be available soon.
Here’s a tidbit for my fellow members: The Blarney Stone is located at the top of Blarney Castle. Visitors who want to kiss it for luck must hang upside down over a wall, high above the ground. With 200,000 people kissing the stone each year, it’s been declared the world’s most unhygienic tourist attraction. (Perhaps that’s why the shamrock is a safer way to get lucky.)
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
