Mary Pilon, Publicity
February was a short month, and our meeting was also short. I am proud to announce that we have broken all past records for members with a whopping 134 members signed up for this season. The Horizon Room was nearly completely full of Irishmen, enjoying the fun and friendship of our club.
Janet Rosenstock is in charge of our annual corned beef dinner to be held on March 16 in the ballroom. Tickets are $18/pp and will be available in the SunBird office. There will be entertainment, raffles, dancing, along with our traditional dinner.
Golf parade will be held on St. Paddy’s Day, March 17, followed by festivities on the patio. This is the second year for this fun event, and we encourage all club members to decorate their golf carts or bicycles in honor of our patron saint.
The 50/50 was won by Ruth Anne Hobbs and Janet Rosenstock. Both took home $83.00. Anne Wodarczyk won $56.00 in the dollar game before we adjourned at 7:00 p.m., and we enjoyed subs and chips afterwards. Our next meeting will be held on March 2, at 6:00 p.m., in the Horizon Room.
The highlight of the month was our annual trip to Laughlin. It was quite a trip! We broke tradition and stayed at the Tropicana for the first time, and the feedback that yours truly received was very positive. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food, the bus trip, the casino and the accommodations. No one came home as a new millionaire, but it was a totally happy time.
Mike Maloney is in charge of our combined shuffleboard, corn toss and horseshoe outing on February 22. As of this writing, it hasn’t been determined if prizes will be given to the winners. It starts at 2:00 p.m., and at 4:00 p.m. we will enjoy pizza and BYOB adult beverages.
Looking forward to March and the Wearin’ o’ the Green. Happy St. Pat’s Day to everyone!
