The SunBird Bandits golf club was pleased to present a check for $1,000 as a donation to the SunBird Helping SunBird program administered by Layne Varney for the HOA. The check, presented in late January by Bandits President Karen DeLong, represents a combination of the net proceeds from the Denim & Diamonds Dance held last November and a direct contribution from the Bandits club.
Although the Bandits have long been a major supporter of the SunBird Golf Club through numerous activities, especially the annual Bandits Golf Tournament held each February, the group also provided funds to other clubs benefiting all SunBird residents, such as the Garden Club, the SunBird Library, and Kare Bears.
“Yes, we are golfers who enjoy and help our community golf course but, more importantly, we are residents who appreciate and care for our fellow neighbors,” said President DeLong. “We encourage all residents to notify Layne directly if they are aware of a neighbor who needs assistance, financially or otherwise. This mutual support is part of what makes SunBird such a great place to live.”
