Join the Sun Lakes Democratic Club for the November meeting on Monday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 Sun Lakes Boulevard. Our speaker will be Art Sloane, columnist for the Arizona Republic.
With Veterans Day approaching, it is appropriate to have Art Sloane as our speaker. Art served in the military and military reserves for 41 years, 14 in the U.S. Air Force and 17 in the Coast Guard Reserves. He is currently the Veterans’ Voice columnist for the Arizona Republic with a weekly column every Saturday. He is also the fundraiser for the Arizona Stand Down, an annual event which assists homeless and needy veterans by providing for basic needs and services.
Art will speak to us about the current status of veteran issues and concerns.
At all club meetings, non-perishable food items are collected for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30-7:00 p.m. There is also a collection box at the north entrance of the Sun Lakes Sunset Grill lobby. Thanks to your generosity the total collected during 2014 was 1,880 lbs. of food and $170. Through September of 2015, 1,748.5 lbs. of food and $356. Thank you, Sun Lakes Democrats!
