The May meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Sun Lakes Country Club, Navajo Room, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N., at 7:00 p.m.
Our May meeting will provide an opportunity to meet three candidates running for the Democratic nomination of their office in the August primary. The speakers will be Deedra Abboud, Candidate for U.S. Senate; David Garcia, Candidate for Governor; and Jim Hinsey, Candidate for U.S. House, CD 5.
Deedra Abboud is visiting the club for the second time. Deedra was born in Arkansas and relocated to Arizona in 1998. She is an attorney and the founder of the Global Institute of Solution Oriented Leadership in Phoenix. A community leader, Deedra wants to bring her approach to the U.S. Senate to help find solutions for the issues facing the country.
David Garcia is also making his second appearance at the club. An Arizona native, he is an Army veteran who is an ASU professor and graduate, with a MS and PhD from the University of Chicago in education. David definitely knows the education challenges this state is facing.
Jim Hinsey is a first-time candidate and is one of four people seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. House, CD 5. Come and hear Jim’s story and why he is seeking office.
The Sun Lakes Democratic Club collects non-perishable food items for Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Please bring your tax-deductible contributions to the drop off area in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ask for a receipt. The club donated 127 pounds of food and $59.00 cash for March. The totals for 2018, so far, are 244 pounds of food and $115.00 cash. We appreciate all you do.
All are welcome. Light refreshments are served. For more information, call Dolly Loftin at 480-200-3322.
