August Meeting:

Guest speaker: Teri Hauser, Sojourner Center
Teri Hauser is the Chief Advancement Officer of Sojourner Center which provides shelter and support to women and children affected by domestic violence and collaborates with the global community on education, research and advocacy to end domestic violence.
Two initiatives which will appear on the November ballot will also be discussed (minimum wage and marijuana).
Several candidates for state, county, and federal offices will also be present to meet and speak with members.
At all club meetings, non-perishable food items are collected for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place on meeting nights in the west parking lot from 6:30-7:00 p.m. There is also a collection box at the north entrance of the Sun Lakes Sunset Grill lobby. In 2015 the total amount collected for Matthew’s Crossing was 2,310.5 lbs. of food and $686. With the amount collected in June (242 lbs. of food and $16) the totals so far for 2016 are 1,988 lbs. of food and $161.
