Sun Lakes Community Theatre – July 2026

Murder Mystery Presented Locally Well Received

Residents at Robson Reserve recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Murder Mystery Company’s performance of Death of a Gangster, the same show being sponsored by Sun Lakes Community Theatre in July at San Tan Ballroom. Audience members loved the show and, according to sources, really “got into the mood and time period.”

“Out of 80 people attending, 95% of them were in full 1920s attire,” said Greg Posniack, a Robson Reserve resident and a member of SLCT. “People showed up early for the cocktail hour and really got into interacting with the cast in the pre-show period,” said Posniack. He said he thought it really set the stage for the actors to decide in advance which audience members they would choose to be characters in the actual production. He was chosen to be the Don of one of the mafia families involved in the wedding. “It was pure adlib! The actors really engaged the audience.” Each table was given a notebook with information to give them a sense of the storyline. “The dialog was very free-flowing and natural,” he said. “The whole show was fun, engaging and fascinating.”

When asked if he solved the murder mystery and knew who the killer was by the end, Greg said, “Well, no. I didn’t think it was ME, but I wasn’t sure!” Posniack highly recommends the show and encourages people to go early for the best experience. “It was a great evening, very entertaining, worth the time and money. There were lots of laughs, and the energy was great.” He thinks the upcoming SLCT-sponsored performance is a bargain at only $25 (which includes one free drink). “I’m going again!” he said. High praise indeed.

Mark Your Calendars for the Next Season of The ImproVables Appearances

Everyone deserves some time off during the heat of the Arizona summers, and The ImproVables are no exception. But once September hits, the group will be back in action and preparing to wow audiences again in the fall, winter and spring.

Their first performance, “Fall Into Laughter,” is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10 at Sun Lakes Country Club’s Navajo Room. No food service is included in the ticket price, but the $25 gets you a free beverage of your choice (excluding premium brands.)

Halloween, Oct. 31, finds The ImproVables performing at Cottonwoods’ Saguaro Room. A scary show is guaranteed, and costumes are encouraged! Be careful, you may end up as part of the show!

In November, the troupe will be doing a private performance for residents of Robson Reserve, sharing the joy of Thanksgiving and the holiday season.

The New Year will find them back at Cottonwood on Jan. 20 for their New Year’s Resolution Show.

February’s Valentine’s Day Show will be on Feb. 13 at Sun Lakes Country Club.

And on April 20, The ImproVables will appear in the April Fools Show at the Oakwood Country Club.
