An auction consisting exclusively of donated items and services was once again successful, not only in terms of dollars raised but also in terms of an entertainment experience. Led by our auctioneer extraordinaire Mike Goldade and a crowd wanting to have fun, the 2024 SunBird Community Auction attracted a large crowd.
The best bakers in SunBird responded to Dolly White’s call, with everything from gluten-free peanut butter cookies in a “Bite Me” cookie jar to Parisian lemon macarons, with free samples to stimulate the bidding.
The most rollicking event was the ingenious idea of Shirley Goldade to auction six volunteer caddies: Jeff Seaman, Gary Hall, Dave White, Jack Cooper, Cindy Vig, and Karen Gilmore. Each caddy offered a different technique to bring the successful bidder’s golf game to the next level. Bids reached well over $300.
Once again, the golf cart was the most profitable item. It was secured by Collette Ellis-Toddington prior to the auction with a reserve bid of $5,000.
Collette and Sandy Crane’s sale of your donated “experienced” golf items earned $700.
Many thanks to all the donors and all the buyers. The monies raised fund maintenance of the lush fairways and decorative ponds on the golf course.
The generosity of your bids reflects your belief in donation to the continued beautification of SunBird.
