Trivia Night with Sherlock Holmes

Thursday, Jan. 2 and 16, Horizon Room, 6 p.m.

Join us on Thursday, Jan. 2 and 16 at 6 p.m. in the Horizon Room. There is a maximum of eight players per team. Your team table can be reserved either by the week or month the HOA Office. Appetizers will be available to order from 4 to 7 p.m.

Bingo

Friday, Jan. 3 and 17, ballroom, 6 p.m.

If you are someone who would like to meet others from the community or just have a fun time playing Bingo, you might want to check into the Chandler SunBird Lions Club “Bingo Nights” on the first and third Fridays of each month. Bingo nights are played in the ballroom at the Sunbird clubhouse. Cards start being sold at 6 p.m. promptly, and the games begin at 6:30 p.m. You can come early to secure your seats. Come join us in the fun. All new games and chances to double the prize money! The money raised goes to the SunBird Lions Club for the local charities.

Karaoke and DJ Night with DJ Mikey Mike

Join DJ Mikey Mike for a night of karaoke and dancing to your favorite songs. Karaoke from 6 to 7:30 p.m., DJ from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Bring your singing voices and your dancing moves and join us for a night of fun! Purchase your favorite drinks from the bar. Everyone is welcome!

Annual Basha High School band concert

Saturday, Jan. 4, ballroom, 6 p.m.

Our local Basha High School music department will be presenting their annual January concert and jazz band music in the ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 6 p.m. SunBird Lion’s Club has been sponsoring this popular event for the past 10 years. All money donated is given to the Basha High School music program for the purchase of equipment, instruments, etc.

Turf Paradise bus trip

Tuesday, Jan. 7, bus will depart SunBird at 10:45 a.m.

Giddy up… we are off to the horse races. This is a fun-filled day that includes bus transportation, entry fee to the races, a race named just for SunBird, and a delicious buffet lunch. Space is limited, so be sure to purchase your tickets today! $45 per person, does not include driver gratuity. Contact HOA Office for availability.

Do you love music? Form your teams and join us for an evening of musical fun and madness! Put your knowledge of popular music from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s music to the test. Bring your dancing shoes for a fun-filled evening with DJ Jamal! This will be dancing music only. Purchase your favorite drinks at the bar or one of the drink specials. Everyone is welcome!

Second annual Chinese auction

Saturday, Jan. 11, ballroom, 6 p.m.

Last year’s event was a huge success. This year will be bigger and better; you’ll be sure to have a blast! Please join us on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. in the ballroom. Bring your quarters (approx. $10 to $20) and get ready to have some fun! Each attendee will receive one numbered bidding sign. A bucket will be placed at the center of each table, and a gong will be placed on the stage. The items up for auction will be priced at $.25, $.50, or $.75. Each person who is interested in bidding on the item will be asked to place the requested amount into the bucket ($.25, $.50, or $.75). The “auctioneer” will call out bidding sign numbers. The last number called when the gong sounds will be the winner! Sound confusing? You may just have to see it to believe it, but you’ll have a great time! We’ll have a wide variety of items up for auction. Each attendee is REQUIRED to bring one NEW, UNUSED item for auction ($15 minimum) as the entry fee (think holiday regifting). All proceeds from this event will go into the Social Budget for future activities. Full cash bar, pre-packaged snacks only. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Training for new SunBird website

Immediately following the third Wednesday Coffee meeting, we will have a brief training session to help you familiarize yourself with our new SunBird website, followed by a Q & A session.

Old Tucson Studios bus trip

Thursday, Jan. 16, bus will depart SunBird at 8:30 a.m.

Old Tucson is southern Arizona’s one-of-a-kind Wild West attraction, featuring live action stunt shows, musicals, and comedy entertainment, as well as vintage rides and special events. Built in 1939 for the movie, Arizona, Old Tucson is home to more than 400 film, television, and commercial productions, and remains the region’s premier film location. The Old West lives again through live historical gunfights, stunt and comedy shows, live musical entertainment, and free-spirited singing and dancing in the Can-Can Show! Tickets are currently available at the HOA office, $48 per person – Includes bus transportation and entry fee to the Studios (does not include driver gratuity).

Mardi Gras – SunBird HOA dance

Saturday, Jan. 18, ballroom, 7 to 10 p.m.

The Bad News Blues Band has toured the world playing their brand of Blues for the better part of 20 years. The band continues to perform for eager fans wherever they go, regionally, nationally, or internationally. With their crazy stage antics, they are a must-see act. You don’t want to miss this high-energy show. You owe it to yourself to check them out! Tickets are $12 per person in advance, $14 per person at the door.
