Lions International World Sight Day – SunBird Lions

Lions International is observing World Sight Day on Thursday, Oct. 10. The SunBird Lions Club will set up a table in the main hallway of the clubhouse from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect used eyeglasses. World Sight Day 2024 is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about vision impairment, blindness, and the importance of eye health. This day serves as a reminder of the need for regular eye examinations, early detection and treatment of eye conditions, and access to eye care for all.

Join us for this awesome activity! This is not your everyday Bingo! Bring your friends, come socialize, enjoy great music, and have fun! We’ll be playing five games for only $1 per game! You can play all five games or just one, play one card or as many as you’d like, the choice is yours! Friday Fun Bingo is for SunBird members and authorized guests only. Please be sure to bring your SunBird ID for entry. If you do not have an ID, please stop by the HOA office to get one. Due to the popularity of this fun event and in order to accommodate SunBird members, the number of guests SunBird members may bring is limited to two (2) guests per household. SunBird members, along with their guests, must all be together when entering the ballroom. Additionally, the SunBird Maintenance Team has set up the ballroom for this event. Please join the SunBird Lions, along with the SunBird German Club, to celebrate Oktoberfest! For your listening pleasure, there will be an accordion player, accompanied by a vocalist. This dynamic duo will surely keep you entertained. Get out your lederhosen, Alpine hat, and dirndl dress and come join the fun. Lift your beer mug and sing “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit”! Tickets are $10 per person and include brats, German potato salad, and soft pretzel stick. German beer and other beverages will be available for purchase. There will also be a meat auction, which will feature top-grade meats. What a great opportunity to fill your freezer and enjoy these meats for indoor cooking or outdoor grilling! CVS Pharmacy will be administering vaccines at SunBird on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Apache Room. Available vaccines include flu, COVID, pneumonia, and shingles. All shots will be given by appointment only. No walk-ins. This will ensure that CVS will be prepared with enough shots. Join us in the Horizon Room as local artist Kaui Wilson helps to create a masterful painting on canvas while sipping, laughing, and socializing. She will provide step-by-step instruction to those who need very specific direction and take you through your masterpiece from start to finish in a series of small and simple (but very detailed) steps. This will be a fun and entertaining art class. No experience is necessary! All art supplies and instruction will be provided, and we’ll include one glass of wine (Cabernet or Chardonnay only)! Save a Life, Give Blood! Summer can be a challenging time to keep the blood supply afloat. So, the American Red Cross is offering donors a big reason to come out and help. Those who come to give blood, platelets, or AB Elite plasma will receive a $10 gift card by email*. The need for blood is constant, and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community.
