The final meeting of the 2018-2019 year of the East Valley Scandinavian Club met March 17 at the Sun Lakes clubhouse. After a delicious catered meal and an entertaining program by Eugene Hansen, the members approved next year’s budget, elected officers and recognized board members who had served during the year.
The Scandinavian Club holds meetings November through March at the Sun Lakes clubhouse. The meetings include an hour of friendly conversation while enjoying pickled herring, cheese, crackers, sausage and beverages for purchase. The evening’s dinners, planned and coordinated with the chef at the clubhouse, are delicious (especially the East Coast halibut with melted butter!). Following dinner, the programs begin, which may include foreign exchange students from Scandinavia, folk dancers, music or guest speakers covering topics of interest related to Scandinavia.
Everyone is invited to attend the meetings, socialize, enjoy “dinner out” and be entertained. You need not be Scandinavian. Dinners are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Membership is $20. Although dinners and programs are over until November, the board is already busy planning the 2019-2020 year. Be watching for more information in the fall. We look forward to seeing you!
