The Lions Salute Our Vets Golf Tournament is now just a distant memory. But at the time, golfers played to salute our vets, raise some money for charity and have some fun. Despite the small turnout, we did just that.
The winners were as follows:
First place Gross ($50 ea.): Gene Dunbar, Lee Stepek, Bob Johns and Joe Hyduke
Second place Gross ($30 ea.): Earl Brown, Ray Bierowicz, Earl Walker and Rick Lantgen
First place Net ($50 ea.): Teri Tinney, Chris Frazon, Penny Fox and Susan Hayward
Second place Net ($30 ea.): Larry Palmer, Ric Palmer, J.L. Scott and Murail Vuppala
Closest-to-the-Pin on Hole No. 3 (Women): Susan Hayward; (Men): Bob Johns
Closest-to-the-Pin on Hole No. 5 (Men): Dave White
Closest-to-the-Pin on Hole No. 8 (Women): Jo Mottet
Closest-to-the-Pin on Hole No. 13 (Women): Gail Holland
Closest-to-the-Pin on Hole No. 14 (Men): Ray Bierowicz
Longest Putt on Hole No. 2 (Women): Susan Hayward
Longest Putt on Hole No. 9 (Men): Joe Grabarek
In addition to the golf prizes, there were many raffle prizes. Lee Stepek needed help carrying all of his raffle prizes home.
Golfers donated $157 and four boxes of gifts for the Packages from Home project. We thank you for that.
The Lions would like to thank Julie and the Horizon Room staff for the great lunch and all of the volunteers that stepped up to help. We would also like to thank all of our Hole Sponsors. You make our tournaments a success.
