The SunBird Pickleball Club has had a great summer—in spite of the COVID crisis, but we’re very glad for our cooler temperatures and the return of our northern friends. We played on Sept. 11, and wore our patriotic colors to honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and all of our firemen and first responders who do so much for our community. We will never forget, and we thank them all.

We began our fall/winter hours on Nov. 1, and they are: Sundays 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays 8 to 10 a.m. We also will be playing occasionally on Saturdays. Please check the glass case near the post office for more information. If you’ve been thinking of trying pickleball or want to begin again, we’d like to invite you to sign up on the sheets posted in the glass case, and someone will be in touch to coordinate an orientation session. We really would like to encourage new players to come out and learn the game. It’s fun!

Also, stop by the Golf Club Pro Shop soon. There are now Gearbox pickleball paddles and accessories available there. Lots of our club members use Gearbox and love it! You can even check out a demo paddle to try before you buy.

As always, we continue to follow social distancing guidelines, bleach our pickleballs after every game, and use hand sanitizers liberally. We’ve been well, and we want to continue to protect ourselves and our SunBird community. We hope to see you soon!
