The summer pickleball season for the SunBird full-timers is resuming with ad-hoc play times. For details, contact Dan and Marianna. The courts are expected to be completed, and the fall hours will commence on Oct. 1! Look for the fall/winter schedule in the October SunBird News.
We are looking for volunteers to be trained on the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device. Please contact Dan and Mariana at 480-285-4501 if interested.
Remember that the summers in Arizona are very hot, and we become easily dehydrated. To replenish electrolytes and reduce potential for leg cramps, consider the following options: Powerade Zero, Nuun, Body Armor, and leg cramp pills. When playing ball in the morning, hydrate well the night before.
Also, be sure to save the date for the 2020 Alzheimer’s Tournament that will be held on Feb. 15 and 16. Additionally, look for information on the Tennis/Pickleball Clubs Fall Kickoff Play and Potluck.
The ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Guardian Angels charity sent the SunBird Pickleball Club a thank you note for the $300 donation in Memory of Jeff Andrews. Jeff was one of the founding fathers of SunBird Pickleball who passed in 2018 from ALS. The donations came from a round robin hosted by SunBird Pickleball Club in Jeff’s memory.
