New Adventures is now on Facebook. The homepage is up and has many photos and comments, along with information about the lifelong-learning program. Some of the photos show classes and state-of-the-art facility, along with links to the website and good contact information. Below is a brief conversation with Roxanne Singer, the governing council member who helped set up the new page.
CH: What was your reason or motivation for creating this page?
RS: As a school, we want to be able to reach as many people as possible, and Facebook gives us the opportunity to do just that.
CH: What do you hope will happen with this page?
RS: Our hope by creating this Facebook page is that the community will be more informed about who we are and what we have to offer. Not only do we learn, but we also teach. Our instructors come from the community, and they share their talents and intellect, and that is what makes our classes so diverse. So, we hope by getting our name out there, we will attract not only students, but instructors, too.
CH: Who is your audience, and how do you plan to reach them?
RS: Our audience is usually a more mature group of people, but not always. We have had younger people join us during the summer to fill a requirement they may need for school. The top answer to “How did you hear about us?” is that a friend told me about the school and the classes they are taking. Facebook literally works on a “Friend” basis. I invite friends, they accept, then all their friends see our page and, hopefully, invite their friends, and so on. Friends letting friends know about us.
CH: Is there anything else that you would like people visiting your new page to know?
RS: The one thing I would like to let everyone know is that New Adventures is a place people come to learn, but they walk away with lifelong friendships and support they didn’t expect.
