National Day of Prayer Set for May 4

The National Day of Prayer for the community will be held in the ballroom at the SunBird Golf Resort on Thursday, May 4, at 10 a.m. This event will have special guest speakers, scriptures, and prayers, along with patriotic and inspirational music. Two of the guest speakers will be Daesoo Lee and Mark Fuller.

Daesoo Lee, a fairly new resident of Sun Lakes, is a retired Chaplain Colonel from the United States Army. Originally from South Korea, he moved to the United States during his youth, became a citizen, then served his new country in the military. Chaplain Lee will relate the importance of prayer he had during his career in the army. Another Speaker, Dr. Mark Fuller, a trustee for Arizona Christian University, will share how the power of prayer has been manifested for the university and its students. Dr. Fuller, who lives in the Ocotillo area, will be the graduation speaker for Arizona Christian University.

Others from the community will read scriptures and have prayers for the facets of America: Government, Military, Education, Business, Family, and the Media Arts. There will also be a special presentation of the American Forefathers Covenant and Prayer.

This event brings the community together to observe this day that, each year, the President of the United States proclaims and encourages all Americans to pray.

Attendees are invited to the pre-program at 9:30 a.m. for the half hour of patriotic music.

The prayer rally event is open to the public. SunBird Golf Resort is located at 6250 S. SunBird Blvd. (on Riggs Road between McQueen and Cooper Roads) in Chandler.
