For the past 30 years, teacher and choreographer Lorraine Twitchell has directed and danced with the Silver Foxes and has been the director of The Dance Center of Sun Lakes and SunBird. She is planning to retire and move closer to her daughter and son-in-law in Nevada. She will be sorely missed.
Lorraine danced professionally in New England and has operated studios on the east and west coasts.
The Silver Foxes of Sun Lakes were formed in 1987. This current group of Foxes includes 10 energetic women: Be Be Brokop, Lorraine Twitchell, Sharon Sorensen, Veronica Beamer, Rae Jean Hennig, Merri Ellen Bergeth, Donna Dunlop, Suzy Hessman, Anne Fomo and Carole Hollar.
Thanks to Lorraine, the group has performed in many places. Past performances include: Channel 3, Good Morning Arizona; Red Hat Society convention; Arizona Senior World’s ‘Lovin Life Expo’ in Mesa, Tucson, Prescott and Nevada; Disneyland and aboard Carnival’s cruise ship Triumph. The Foxes have been featured in a past issue of Phoenix Magazine. Perhaps the most gratifying experiences have been performing at the Veterans Home, a variety of senior centers and many rehab and assisted living centers. For all of this and much more, we are grateful to you, Lorraine.
Thanks to Lorraine’s generosity, we will continue to perform her choreography and use the costumes she designed. Hopefully, we will continue to provide joyful entertainment.
