Every time I teach a free steps and patterns class for the dancers who attend my classes, I see the validation of why I teach the way I do. When I see the light bulb go off and dancers realize I am giving them a word for every foot or word/words for some patterns, I know why I teach the way I do. The best validation of why I teach the way I do is when I see the smiles on faces, the twinkle in the eyes and a dancer says, “This is fun!” After 15 plus years of teaching, why would I change now? To be honest with you, I wouldn’t know how and I wouldn’t be teaching and the dancers wouldn’t be thinking and learning.
Many people think you just come and dance when they sign up for my classes. The dancers who are learning have trusted me when I say, “I guarantee you will learn line dances from me if you will listen, look straight ahead and not follow anyone.” They are improving daily, because many of them practice; weekly, because they regularly attend classes and monthly, because they attend my free steps and patterns classes. I am so proud of them. They are proud of themselves and maybe a little surprised at what they have accomplished in the time they have danced with me. All of us are not surprised that we are having a lot of fun and we are escaping this crazy world at least for a little while.
