The R Countryman Chapter of the Korean War/Korea Service Veterans will meet on Tuesday, March 22 in the Friendship Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club at 10:00 a.m. KWVA is proud to welcome Jay Cory, who has been serving as the President and CEO of the Phoenix Rescue Mission, since September of 2011. Prior to coming to Phoenix, Jay served with Atlanta Mission for 17 years in various positions including Interim President and CEO. He is the President of the Mountain District for the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions and was recently appointed by the Governor to Child Safety and Family Empowerment Council. He earned his MBA from Furman University and is a Master’s Addictions Counselor, Certified Clinical Supervisor and an ordained minister.

For over 60 years, the Phoenix Rescue Mission has been a place of hope, healing and new beginnings for countless men, women and children in our community struggling with homelessness, addiction and trauma. Offering a hot meal, a warm shower, clean clothing and a welcome smile is often the start of a new life. They provide Christ-centered programs to men and women to help break the cycle of self-destructive patterns and to help rebuild their lives. Through faith, teaching, mentorship and compassion, broken lives are being transformed every day. Please come and listen to some of the programs they provide and how you can get involved!

Thank you to our January speaker, Brigadier General Maxon, and his presentation regarding the Veterans Treatment Courts and how these courts focus on therapy and treatment over punishment when assisting our returning veterans as they reintegrate back in to our communities.

All veterans and their guests are welcome. You can learn more about us on our website at www.kwvacc.org or contact Commander Jay Sanderson at 480-895-2950.

And remember, “Freedom is NOT free.”
