Last Chance for Elvis Tickets

First of all, we would like to thank SunBird residents for enthusiastically supported our evening presentation of Project Presley (Elvis) concert. We sold the evening show out in five days! We are now taking reservations for the matinee show, but need 160 people to break even. There is a sign-up sheet right below the Elvis poster in the alcove area, across from the library. If you have a “Burning Love” for Elvis, please put down your name, phone number, and the number of tickets you want to reserve. Again, we will not be doing the matinee show unless we can get enough people signed up to make it profitable.

AZLEOS (Law Enforcement Outreach and Support) at Target

At our December membership meeting, Juanita Harbut told the group that she and seven others from SunBird went and helped wrap Christmas presents for the Shop with a Cop program run by AZLEOS. In March of 2019, the SunBird Kare Bears gave $750 to this wonderful program. AZLEOS provided the children and officers breakfast, then gave them a police escort to the Mesa Target, where the children had up to $100 to spend on Christmas gifts. Many of the children bought for their families and very little on themselves. AZLEOS (in three different events) gave Christmas gifts to over 650 children in the East Valley, with 55 of these children coming from Chandler. The Shop with a Cop program takes low-income children, children of fallen officers, and children of fallen military shopping for Christmas. The SunBird Coloring Club also gave $250 of their own money.
