Dave White, Golf Course President
Happy summer! I would like to address a few things.
We realize the condition of the retention ponds is not what it should be. Some of the problem is the depth of the ponds. After 30 years of run-off from the streets and homeowner houses, the ponds have collected a lot of dirt, which settles to the bottom, and the lakes are not deep enough to mitigate the growth that you see on top of the water.
The SunBird Golf Club recently added over 48,000 bottom-feeding fish to the lakes at a cost of $8,000 to help with the pond issue.
The other issue is the advertising on some of the benches that are on golf course property. The money received from the sale of the advertising will help pay for the fish.
