Summer is here and the Maintenance Department gets really busy; greens, tees, and fairway aeration, gypsum, adjutants and lots and lots of sand; plus, with the hot weather comes the Bermuda grass, the hotter it gets the faster it grows. That being said I want to take this opportunity to thank our Grounds Crew, Lopez, Juan, Miguel, Gamez, Hayden and Hector.

Golf Course

While we are committed to enhancing all facets of the club operation, an immaculate golf course will remain the top priority. We have a long range strategic plan in place and our resources that are generated by you the golf membership will be utilized for the many projects and turf planned for many years. As we go forward just remember the entire extra work that goes into the extra horticulture practices we take on through the summer months to ensure the future of SunBird Golf Club comes from our small maintenance team. We will do our best to complete these tasks in a timely manner but please be patient.

Golf Operation

Dave Jones and the Pro Shop staff: Jerry and Pam have done an excellent job this year bringing in some new and exciting apparel and hard goods, along with taking care of the members and guests needs. The Pro Shop is constantly trying new strategies and implementing good strong golf shop principles to give the membership and their guests a better overall experience. We have had some excellent news, at least from Dave and my perspective, our old reservation system is gone! We will be working on our new system (Club Prophet) throughout the summer so when the busy golf time comes we will be ready; so having a veteran staff behind the counter during this time will be a blessing. The summer hours for the Pro Shop are from 6:00 a.m.-noon daily. For play after hours please make arrangements with the Pro Shop staff.
