From the Desk of Golf Course Superintendent

Brendan Waddell

Greetings SunBird residents. I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome to SunBird Golf Club. It has been a great and easy transition, and I already feel at home here. SunBird is a very unique property, and it is great to see that the people who live here really care about their community and all it has to offer.

The golf course industry has pretty much been my life over the past 27 years. I enjoy what I do and even more so enjoy seeing golfers smiling as they play on the product we put out. Although I have a lot of experience, I cannot do it myself. The group of guys under my supervision are possibly the best I have ever worked with, and that makes life easier for everyone.

As we get into spring, we will be planning on tackling some projects around the course. The projects are not huge but may interfere with some play. We hope to keep that at a minimum and will advise the Pro Shop when and where they take place prior to the work getting done. Communication is the key. We will also be aerating the greens, tees, and fairways and will have that scheduled with the Pro Shop in advance.

Once again, thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to a long career here at SunBird Golf Club and ask everyone (golfers and non-golfers) for help in keeping the golf course and community the best it can be. It’s a hidden gem that I’ve come to love.
