Back by popular demand is the golf tournament that honors our Founders. They had the foresight to purchase our jewel, SunBird Golf Course, from the developer and keep it in the hands of the community. The Founders still in SunBird are Ken Karge and Earl Ferguson.
The fun-filled weekend kicks off with a giant community auction (highly sought after items only this year). Step up to the patio on Friday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. to bid on items only available at this auction. John and Marsha Brockish, who can be reached at 480-769-0242, will be receiving your donations. All proceeds are earmarked for maintaining the golf course greenbelt, the centerpiece of our community.
Then at 6 p.m., move on to the Draw Party held in the Horizon Room. At that time, teams will be formed through a random draw. Take advantage of the unique opportunity to mix and socialize with golfers from all the leagues in our club. Appetizers will be served.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday morning with doughnuts and coffee on the patio and a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch (there are rumors of a “chili cook off”) and distribution of prizes will follow golf.
Come out and meet a friend you haven’t golfed with yet.
